2008-2009 GRAND GUARDIAN COUNCIL OFFICERS
ANNUAL SESSION OF THE
GRAND GUARDIAN COUNCIL OF MINNESOTA
JUNE 13-14, 2008

The Grand Guardian Council met in Alexandria, Minnesota. Despite the stormy weather for most of the weekend our business was completed and the new officers installed. Friday’s business session included reports of officers and committees.

At the formal banquet our many achievements were announced. The Grand Lodge Scholarship had been presented to Kayla M #1, three Grand Guardian Council scholarships were given, the Grand Guardians Project, Read Read Read collected 1,700 books, and the Grand Lodge gave $300 for the project and Bethel 53 got the most bookworms (10) for visiting Bethels. Membership increase awards went to Bethel 32 +23.3%, and Bethel 39 +14.3%. Bethel 9 initiated 7 as did Bethel 32 and Bethel 11 initiated 5 for the highest numbers in the state. Spirit Awards were given out to Bethels 1, 11, 28, 32, 39, 41, 48, 53, 76 and 95.

The Grand Officers were escorted and introduced following the distinguished guests at the Formal Opening and after the presentation of the flags of Job’s Daughters and the Bible Ceremony and opening prayer the Necrology Ceremony was held to honor the memory of departed members. Thanks to Amanda LeBlanc, Grand Marshal for the Flag Ceremony and to Joy Erickson, Grand Chaplain for the Bible and Necrology Ceremonies.

The Grand Guardian announced that the Golden Triangle Ceremony and been held a couple of weeks previously and the recipients were Ed Jensen and Pat Lane both of Bethel 76. The Associate Grand Guardian the presented the Heritage Award to two deserving Masons, Chuck Anderson PAGG #45 and Brad Johnson PAGG #40.

Thanks were expressed to Wanda Thompson #40 and Ward Gillett #32 for their efforts with their employers to get large donations for the JD Foundation.

We then “had” to close the Bible for the “remarks” from our Canadian Visitors. They seemed to think that all of our Grand Officers looked better as mosquitos.

In some cases that was correct. Those pesky Canadians, we only have a couple of months to think of something to “present” at their session.

Refreshments and socializing followed the ceremony.

Sat morning came quickly and early. Reports continued until the ten o’clock hour for elections. Following the elections we had some discussions on finances and budget and closed in time for practice for installation.

The Installation Ceremony was held Sat evening.

The Installing Officers were:

Installing Officer Joy Erickson PGG
Associate Installing Officer Cliff Isley PAGG
Installing Guide Gayle Johnson PGG
Installing Marshal Rosemary Guntzel PGG
Installing Chaplain George Miller PAGG
Installing Musician Marlene Nevala PBG assisted by Sheila Lardner PGG (Sask)
Installing Secretary Sheryl Miller PGG
Installing Senior Custodian Don DeMars PAGG
Installing Junior Custodian Ned Wittman PAGG
Installing Flag Bearer

Following the presentation of the Jewels and remarks the Ceremony was concluded and the Session Closed. The next Annual Session of the Grand Guardian Council will be held in Alexandria June 18-20, 2009.

Thanks to the 2007-2008 Grand Officers for a special year. Most of you are Past Grands who stepped in to a special situation. Our special Thanks and gratitude to Pam Leech who stepped up to the plate and continued to serve for a second year. We are appreciative and grateful to Pam and all the Grand Officers for your love and dedication to our Grand Guardian Council and our Daughters. Thank You!
